"Blossomland" - At Mandeni this Summer
Footprint Theatre Inc, the region's newest theatre group, will be presenting a show for the whole family at Mandeni Family Fun Park this summer.
"Blossomland", written and directed by local Andrew Gray, is about a hive of bees who decide to become self-sufficient by planting their own blossom trees. But someone is eating the flowers...who could it bee?
The youth cast from Footprint will entertain young and old at 6pm on Wed 6 January, 4.30pm and 6pm on Sat 9 January and at 4.30pm on Sun 10 January.

Kids Club at the Merimbula Aquarium
Looking for something different for the kids to do this January that's fun, safe and definitely educational?
Every Wednesday and Thursday night during January the Merimbula Aquarium and Wharf Restaurant is holding a Kids Club that's sure to keep young ones coming back for more.
Each child who is booked into the restaurant for dinner at 6pm receives free entry to the Kids Club, based downstairs in the Aquarium. Once dinner has finished, the Kids Club kicks off at 6.45pm.
Activities will include a treasure hunt, identifying different marine life and playing games.
There will also be a Touch Tank on
display for children to hold marine creatures, and lots of other fun to be had in the Aquarium.

George Bass Marathon - The World's Longest and Toughest Event
Need a bit of inspiration to get fit after the Christmas celebrations? Look no further than the surf boat crews of the George Bass Marathon.
Starting on January 3rd, more than 20 men's and women's crews from NSW, Victoria, the A.C.T. and a crew from Holland will spend 7 days rowing more than 190kms from Batemans Bay to Eden.
The marathon imitates the feats of Naval Commander George Bass who explored the coastline in 1797.

Coming up in March - the Bermagui Seaside Fair and Sculpture On The Edge. Also the Four Winds Festival at Bermagui.
Bermagui Seaside Fair
Saturday 13th March is the date to note and Dickinson Oval in the centre of beautiful Bermagui is the venue.
“Bermagui – Proud of Our Place” is the theme for the 2010 Bermagui Seaside Fair and the organisers hope to demonstrate the history of Bermagui from its roots at the Montreal Goldfield, the fishing, timber and farming industries, through to the importance of today’s tourism for the local economy.
A multitude of events will run throughout the day – Blessing of the Fleet at 8am, Pet Pageant, Zumba Dance, Tai Chi, Karate, Koori dancing and didgeridoo playing. The great Zamboni will delight the kids, there’s FREE novelty events for young and old, helicopter joy flights, monster auction, Marshall & Tacheci sandcastle competition and Flaherty’s Carnival. Judges will nominate someone best dressed to suit the “Proud of Our Place” theme in the “Fashions of the Fair” competition.
Dickinson Oval will be bursting at the rails with market stalls carrying goods guaranteed to attract even the most discerning purchaser. Great food provided by the Seaside Fair Committee and served by valued volunteers will feed the masses.
Live entertainment will feature on two stages and Garry Carson Jones and the Poddy Dodgers, just returned from the Tamworth Country Music Festival will play a feast of country and country rock music.
Popular local entertainer Jacqui Howarth will coordinate the Youth Music Showcase from 4pm - 8pm, followed by fireworks on the headland at around 8.30pm.
A special Over 50’s Concert at Bermagui Country Club from 1pm on Sunday will feature a bevy of local and out of town artists and delight the “recycled teenager”.
So make the 13th of March your lucky day and come along to the thirteenth Bermagui Seaside Fair. You’ll be glad you did!!

Sculpture On The Edge - Bermagui
Sculpture can be controversial, engaging, confronting, moving, political, whimsical, obscure and irreverent. Above all, at Bermagui's "Sculpture on the Edge" it is accessible to people who may not have experienced sculpture before.
This year "Sculpture on the Edge" has grown to encompass both the Canberra long weekend and the Bermagui Seaside Fair, running from Friday March 5th to Sunday 14th.
Bermagui's "Sculpture on the Edge" Committee is delighted to announce that Prof. Philip Cox, AO, Director Cox Richardson has offered an acquisitive prize of $5000 for this year's event.
Prof Cox has been a supporter of "Sculpture on the Edge" since it's inception in 2007, and his beautiful Murrah property, "Thubbul" will be open to the public on Friday March 12th from 9am - 4pm when there will be guided tours of the Cox art collection.
The annual symposium will be held at "Nerimbah", just outside Bermagui on Sunday 7th March. This year's theme is "Sculpture Controversy!" and the symposium promises some entertaining speakers and lively discussion.
During the exhibition large sculptures will be displayed on Endeavour Point Headland and Horseshoe Bay Beach, whilst small sculptures can be viewed at the Bermagui Community Hall.
Local and regional artists will be well represented by sculptors Daniel Lafferty, Murray Ambler, Gabrielle Powell, Ulan Murray, Karen Charlebois and Alan Watt, as well as a contingent of students from ANU led by the indefatigable Frank Maconochie. New exhibitors include renowned wood turner Richard Raffan and Wynne Prize finalist Elizabeth Roet from the Blue Mountains.
There will be a Festival Club in the evenings over the course of the exhibition to encourage artists and audience to get together.

Four Winds - "One of the best Festivals in Australia"
Different times and different cultures will be brought together in three days of exquisite music at the Four Winds Festival in Bermagui from April 2nd - 4th.
The Festival was shortlisted by Limelight Magazine as one of the six best Festivals in Australia in 2008.
The romance of renaissance Italy and music reverberating around the ancient squares of Tuscany will be brought alive in the Australian bush by Italian maestro Paolo Pandolfo, the “Yo Yo Ma of the viola da gamba”.
Sultry flamenco from Arte Kanela will play as dusk settles on Friday and bring a contemporary latino element picked up by the Flinders quarter on Sunday when they join with Karin Schaupp on guitar in a new collaboration of fandango with friends. Karin will join with harpist Marshall McGuire in a first time collaboration on strings playing de Falla, Granados and an Albeniz tango.
The exhilarating open air site for the Festival, close to the sea, will give people an opportunity to stretch out on the grass and dream to Melbourne group e21 singing songs of earth, sky and sea, including mediaeval Gregorian chant and songs of place from Australian Indigenous songlines.
Gospel and soul will be brought to mind when the women of the Black Arm Band sing in 13 Indigenous languages on Sunday afternoon – anyone who enjoys Sweet Honey in the Rock will love these songs which breath life into that which was lost.
This walk through the ages will be launched on Good Friday at 4pm with Four Winds' gift to the community - a free performance of a specially commissioned piece at Dickinson Oval in Bermagui.
"Windsong" is a celebration of local artistic endeavour, of elite musicianship, of a vibrant festival, and of the rich and diverse community in which we live - don't miss it.
David Hewitt will bring humour and whimsy, not to mention all manner of percussion to a performance of the resonant village on Saturday and will continue with the four winds cinematic orchestra and a bewildering array of instruments, objects, sound effects and absurd dialogue, gravely played, and hilariously funny.
A world premier on Saturday afternoon from the Andrea Keller Quartet, commissioned by the Keir Foundation, will be a highlight of a weekend and will blur collaboration and improvisation in jazz and contemporary classical music.
The strands of ancient and modern musics and styles will be brought together with assurance and brilliance by Jessica Aszodi (soprano) and Marshall McGuire (harp) with songs ranging from Dowland to Andrew Ford.

Enjoy the community spirit at the Tilba Easter Festival
The Tilba Easter Festival on Saturday, April 3rd, is jam-packed with entertainment & activities to suit all the family. Enjoy Town criers, hilarious street games, live music on 5 stages, roaming performers, and circus workshops. There’s an art competition and exhibition, craft demonstrations, children’s activities, market stalls and delicious food.
The Festival takes place in the magical setting of Central Tilba’s main street with its colourful 100-year-old buildings. The entire village and surrounding lush volcanic farmland rolling down to the ocean, have been protected by the National Trust and is just a short drive south from Narooma.
Children will be entertained by the Great Zamboni the magician, and the Pat the Possum show. Rides, street games and the reptile awareness show take place throughout the day.
The traditional bushies boot throw and egg toss games are open to all comers. To reconnect with our rural heritage, exhibitions will include sheep shearing, whip cracking and rumours of a new game for the day: the udder toss!
The Festival prides itself on promoting and supporting local talent. This year, a Youth Talent Quest will be held, along with a special stage to showcase the diversity of dance performers in our area. This will provide opportunities for our young up and coming performers to get on stage and gain valuable performance experience.
Pets of all shapes and sizes are welcome to attend the Pet Parade, to be held for the first time. Best Dressed and most unusual pets of all shapes and sizes will strut their stuff along the main street.
Easter Saturday is the one day each year when Bate Street is closed to traffic and open to a huge array of culture and festivities.
A modest donation ($5 adults, $2 kids 2-16) covers a full day’s entertainment. The festival is proud to be a volunteer non-profit community project, free of corporate sponsorship, and dedicated to a day of fun for everyone who attends.
